"Escape from Pleasure Planet" is a newly released point-and-click game. It seems that this newly-released game is a popular holiday gift, regardless of whether or not it is a prank present.
According to the Huffington Post, in "Escape from Pleasure Planet," the player takes on the role of the hero named Captain Tycho Minogue. He is out on a mission to track down a "dangerously handsome" criminal who goes by the name Brutus. The villain is holed up at Arcadia, also known as the Pleasure Planet. It gets its moniker due to the fact that it is a hedonistic tourist resort.
The game is developed by Luke Miller, and "Escape from Pleasure Planet" is a sequel to the "My Ex-Boyfriend the Space Tyrant," developed by Miller as well. The game basically plays similarly to that of "Monkey Island" and "King's Quest."
In a press release sent to the news outlet, Miller said that often, in the gay community hedonism with repression is a recurring theme. He gave several examples, such as a kid from a small country town going wild after moving into the city. As such, he was in search of a complementary story that combines both homosexuality and science fiction.
Miller even went so far as to say that combining the two themes was an "aha!" moment for him, and placing the two side-by-side provides a fresh take on both. He added that a utopian world has its own terrible secret when it comes to sci-fi, and he aims to exemplify that concept.
Meanwhile, according to Warpzoned, "Escape from Pleasure Planet" was able to garner 192 backers in its Kickstarter project. Its psychedelically bright art style is reminiscent of 70s sci-fi movies on acid. It radiates a similar style to that of FX's "Archer" series, and both share the same kind of adult humor.
"Escape from Pleasure Planet" is now in Steam and is priced at $15. Here is the trailer video for the game.
