The January 2017 transfer window officially opens in a couple of days. Judging by moves that have already been made, including Brazilian star Oscar to Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League, it will shape up to be the most surprising in recent memory.
Now, a number of betting establishments have listed off some probable Premier League moves in January 2017. Starting things off is out of favor defensive midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. The France international has only played three league games since the arrival of new Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.
The Manchester United manager and West Brom boss Tony Pulis have both confirmed that a bid has been placed for Schneiderlin. However, it is believed that he will choose Everton over the Baggies with 13/8 odds.
United are also involved in another move, but this one will see them add to their ranks instead. The Red Devils have been looking for quality center backs that can perform consistently week in and week out for quite some time now.
Summer signing Eric Bailly is seen as more of an option in the long term, while Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones lack the needed consistency, according to the Express. Benfica defender Victor Lindelof is seen as the perfect fit for United's needs and is odds-on to be signed by Mourinho at 10/11.
Up next is Gunners starlet Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Although undeniably talented, he has failed to hold down a position in Arsenal's starting line-up. He can now move to rivals Manchester City with odds of 15/8. His club teammate Carl Jenkinson is also reportedly keen on a loan move in light of harsh criticism from fans, according to the Daily Mail.
One of the biggest transfers that could happen in this transfer window is 2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner James Rodriguez moving from Real Madrid to current Premier League leaders Chelsea. The Colombian superstar has been seen as out of favor with Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane and is now looking for more first-team football. Chelsea are favorites to sign him at odds of 9/4.
Finally, Manchester United and Everton are back it again with Red Devils flop Memphis Depay looking likely to move from the red side of Manchester to the blue side of Merseyside. Depay has only played 20 minutes this season for Manchester United and can move to Everton at odds of 5/2.
