Rumors have spread that actor Ryan Reynolds had filmed scenes as Deadpool for the upcoming "Logan" movie. Director James Mangold and Reynolds have both stepped forward to shoot down these rumors and "Logan" star Hugh Jackman, who plays the titular Logan aka Wolverine, followed suit.

The rumors of Deadpool's possible cameo in the film originated from The Wrap. Mangold immediately denied the rumor when he posted on Twitter, comparing the publication to Breitbard, a conservative website infamous for spreading fake news during the recent election period.

Reynolds quickly followed mentionining Prisoner 24601. It is a reference to Jackman's character Jean Valjean from the musical adaptation of "Les Miserables."

Jackman himself followed this up on Twitter. He alluded to the comments made by Reynolds and Mangold.

However, fans should still be wary given that studios and cast members have denied rumors that did turn out true. Director J.J. Abrams and the cast of "Star Trek Into Darkness" denied actor Benedict Cumberbatch was playing the villain Khan up to the day the film released in theaters. Christopher Nolan did the same regarding Marion Cotillard playing Talia al Ghul in "The Dark Knight Rises."

There is still a possibility of Deadpool appearing in the movie, according to Screen Rant. The character is known for not caring about the timeline in the "X-Men" cinematic universe. One of the stated issues with a possible cameo is that "Deadpool" and "Logan" have very different tones and his appearance would not fit the film's direction.

"Logan" is set in a future where most of the mutants have already been eradicated. During this era Logan meets a young mutant named Laura aka X-23 (Dafne Keen) and strives to protect her from forces trying to capture her. The film will also star Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Charles Xavier.

The official trailer for the film, which will be released on March 3, 2017, can be viewed below:
