Exciting things are set to happen in upcoming episodes of the SBS drama "Legend of the Blue Sea." Joon Jae (Lee Min Ho) will have his hands full trying to protect Chung (Jun Ji Hyun) and himself from a potential future that could lead to their tragic death.
Avid viewers of "Legend of the Blue Sea" recently learned how Joon Jae and Chung's fate as Dam Ryung and Se Hwa, respectively, ended during the Joseon dynasty. Featured in episode 13 that aired on Dec. 28, Wednesday, Joon Jae went under hypnosis and discovered that Dam Ryung died to save Se Hwa, with the mermaid ending her life shortly after her lover's death.
The tragic end of Dam Ryung and Se Hwa's love story saddened many fans. However, the said plot line helped to further establish Joon Jae and Chung's shared destiny in the SBS drama's present timeline.
A source from the SBS production told Korean news outlet iNews 24 that upcoming episodes will show a deeper plot as "Legend of the Blue Sea" nears the end of its 20-episode run. Viewers should expect to see major story developments happening between Joon Jae, his father (Choi Jung Woo) and step brother Chi Hyun (Lee Ji Hoon), as well as the threat posed by Dae Young (Sung Dong Il) against the Chung and Joon Jae.
The connections between the characters, from both their present and past lives, will also be uncovered. Moreover, the back half of the SBS drama will also tackle some of the characters' abilities to peek into their past lives.
In other news, episode 14 of Lee and Jun's fantasy mermaid drama will not air on Dec. 29, Thursday, as scheduled. SBS will instead release a movie-like version of the drama's first 13 episodes.
A source from SBS told local reporters that the said special episode will focus on Joon Jae and Chung's romance, as well as Dam Ryung and Se Hwa's story during the Joseon dynasty, Yonhap News quoted the source as saying. Meanwhile, episode 14 will be released on Jan. 4, 2017.
