It could be argued that UFC fighter Ronda Rousey was beaten both physically and emotionally in her last appearance in the Octagon when she lost her title to Holly Holm. Rousey is now set to make her return against current women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207.
"Rowdy" basically went off the grid following her first loss in her professional career. Prior to losing her title, she was basically an invincible figure in the sport of mixed martial arts. Surely, it was a big hit to lose that sense of power over the rest of her division.
Over a year after her first ever loss, Rousey is now set to make her return and she wants to make a statement. In fact, she has already made one for herself after posting photos of herself to her official Instagram page with the caption that read "#FearTheReturn," Fox Sports reported. And surely, anyone who sees Rousey's new physique will be afraid to step into the ring with her.
There were people questioning Rousey's form after putting on weight after her bout against Holm, according to the New York Post. Another question was how she would perform following over a year's absence from competition. This will definitely stop people from questioning the former champion's fitness levels coming into her match with Nunes.
It seems that Rousey's return is one of the biggest selling points the UFC is being used to promote their upcoming event. UFC 207 is set to take place on Dec. 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The fight card that also features a grudge match between undefeated prospect Cody Garbrandt and reigning men's bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz. The fight between Nunes and Rousey has been scheduled as the main event of the evening. Also at the event, former bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw will face John Lineker in the hopes of getting another shot at the title.
While there are only 10 fights on the official fight card for UFC 207, it will feature some big names and is definitely worthy of closing at a year of jaw-dropping mixed martial arts events.
