Faithfuls of the "Galaxy Far Far Away" mythos were devastated with the loss of their much-loved princess - Leia Organa who was portrayed by no other than Carrie Fisher. Her character's renown has reached even the gaming community that also has legions of fans playing countless hours of "Star Wars" titles. In line with this, such fans also paid tribute to Fisher in a way that a true gamer can.
A player of the five-year-old massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) - "Star Wars: The Old Republic" is said to have created a custom character with the likeness of the iconic princess. Moreover, the fan-made character was situated in House Organa located on the earth-like planet Alderaan where the royalty was raised.
Players from all over gathered on the said spot of the game to pay their respects to the princess and bid farewell at the same time. Some gamers offered fireworks, gave simple waves, raised their lightsabers, and even did a flash mob in front of their royal highness.
Meanwhile, some fans even urged "The Old Republic's" developer - BioWare, to put up something within the game that would remember Fisher's character. Nonetheless, the events in "The Old Republic" took place 3,600 years before Fisher's character was even born, according to Mashable.
"Star Wars Battlefront" players, on the other hand, are also requesting the same thing with DICE. They suggest that the game maker would put up an update in the game that would bring in a new version of Princess Leia other than the one that is already present in the game, Kotaku has learned. Fans recommended the version of Leia where she sports the famous white dress that she wore in "Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope" and the General Leia in "Episode 7."
