Apple is believed to be coming out with at least three iPhones in 2017 though the variants may welcome a new one with a reported 5-inch variant in the mix. This will likely succeed the iPhone SE and feature a vertical dual-camera.
The alleged 5-inch iPhone will carry the same specs of the current iPhone 7 and 7 Plus except for the display screen. If so, this follows the previous iPhone SE which sported a smaller make but carried the iPhone 6s features.
The striking feature that the 5-inch iPhone will carry will be the vertical dual-camera. It is not considered a flagship but more of an extension of the iPhone 7 roster, Mac Otakara reported.
The latest dish appends previous belief that Apple is planning to release a smaller-screened iPhone in 2017 which will likely retain the old TFT-LCD display current models sport.
Should this hold true, the 5-inch iPhone model could draw some interest even with old LCD technology in use. The belief is that the iPhone 8 will be the model to look out for with an expected shift to curved OLED display screens.
Other features tied up to the iPhone 8 include the flagship wrapped in an all-glass design, new biometric security scanning and support for wireless charging. A more powerful A11 chip is also expected to back up the iPhone 8. TSMC is believed to be wrapping up the design for the 10-nanometer chips, Digi Times reported.
If the 5-inch iPhone variant does come to fruition, there could be four to expect in 2017. Aside from the iPhone 8, previous reports claim that there will be two other models which are touted to possibly be the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus.
The iPhone 7s is believed to be the device sporting a 4.7-inch screen while the phablet-like iPhone 7s Plus will don the larger 5.5-inch screen. Both are expected to sport the same TFT-LCD technology.
The reported 5-inch iPhone could very well be the budget-friendly device of the mix. One thing that shrouds that possibility is the camera design though it could be simply a change in orientation from horizontal to vertical.
