UFC President Dana White wants nothing less than the best for his organization's fans, as he says the hopes for a knockout during the upcoming UFC 208. With a lot of talented fighters on the main card of the event including former women's bantamweight champion Holly Holm taking on Germaine de Randamie for the inaugural women's featherweight belt, it is not far off that this will happen.
UFC 208 will take place in February next year at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the first UFC event that will be held there, according to Fox News. It will also only be the second ever MMA event to take place in the state of New York after state legislators finally voted to legalize the sport there last summer.
Fight fans will have high expectations of the Feb. 11, 2017 event due to the fact that the last UFC event held in New York featured three championship fights, including one that pitted a champion of one weight class against another in the form of Eddie Alvarez vs. Conor McGregor.
UFC 205 was definitely a barnburner and will undoubtedly be hard to match. However, introducing a brand new championship title in the organization will definitely be a highlight of the upcoming event. White has added that there are no plans to add other titles aside from this, according to Sherdog, so this inauguration will definitely be unique to the New York event.
"That event was perfect as it could possibly be," White said when talking about UFC 205 with FOX Business. "It was one of our most amazing events, record-breaking in every way, shape and form. If we could carbon copy that one, I would. I didn't learn anything other than, that was awesome, and let's do this again,."
The UFC continues to grow and the events scheduled in 2017 will only provide more opportunities for it to do so. With exciting talent coming up the ranks, it is not difficult to see why mixed martial arts is becoming one of the most popular sports across the entire globe. Fans should definitely keep an eye out for what MMA has to offer in the coming months.
