"Goblin" continues to post steady TV ratings since it aired its first episode in early December. Recently, the episode that featured a romantic back hug scene between Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun's characters registered peak viewership shares of more than 15 percent.
The fantasy tvN drama "Goblin," also known as "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God," has been entertaining avid viewers with its interesting plot. With double-digit viewership shares, which is considered an impressive feat for a cable channel drama, the said TV series is fast becoming one of tvN's popular programs.
Recently, "Goblin" episode 9 registered one of the drama's highest TV ratings to-date. Released on Dec. 30, Friday, the said episode's viewership share peaked at 15.4 percent with an average rating of 13.6 percent, according to Nielsen Korea, as cited by All Kpop.
In episode 9, Eun Tak (Kim) ran away from the goblin's home after she learned that Shin (Gong) will die if she pulls out the magical sword impaled on his chest. After taking a job at a ski lodge and nearly dying from hypothermia due to an accident, Eun Tak was rescued by Shin and brought back to his home.
Moreover, viewers also witnessed a unique love confession between Shin and Eun Tak. After acknowledging that he also feels the same way towards Eun Tak, Shin gave his destined bride a back hug.
Meanwhile, "Goblin" is speculated to reach the same high viewership ratings that "Reply 1988" posted during its broadcast run on tvN. At its peak, the family drama posted TV ratings of 21.6 percent and an accumulated average viewership share of 19.6 percent.
In other news, Gong and his co-star Lee Dong Wook's fashionable outfits in "Goblin" has captured the interest of fashion lovers. Some of the oversized coats that the "Coffee Prince" actor has been wearing on the tvN drama became very popular in South Korea, according to Korea Herald.
