The much-delayed book "Winds of Winter" may be finally released this month and it is expected to be over 1,500 pages and the extreme length of the book is one of the primary reasons why it was delayed.
Rumors abound that "Winds of Winter" has been proofread and is about to hit the shelves soon. Fans have been waiting for almost six years for the release of the book.
The sixth book in the much-acclaimed "A Song of Ice and Fire" is not only the sequel to "A Dance with Dragons" but for "A Feast for Crows" as well. As a result, it is expected to be extremely long and may be over 1,500 pages because it is expected to contain the point of view chapters of almost all the major characters, according to Reddit.
However, the author George R. R. Martin may be asked to trim the manuscript so that it is at a reasonable length. Hence, Martin may be forced to write event-based chapters instead of narrating the story from the point of view of the key characters. Most of the major characters are currently in the same location, so it may be a good idea to focus on events rather than characters.
In the question and answer session at the Guadalajara International Book Fair, Martin revealed that the upcoming book will not have a happy ending at all. The book will be very dark and grim, and the readers will read about the deaths of numerous key characters, according to Mashable. It is also expected that the last book "A Dream of Spring" in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series will also be very sad and have a very dark ending.
Meanwhile, the "Winds of Winter" spoilers indicate that the book may see the growth of Sansa Stark as a ruthless ruler. She may become the Queen of the North and deal with her subjects in a strong way. With the help of other allies, she may also end up becoming a force to be reckoned with.
