Leaked photos of the alleged Sony Xperia X 2017 smartphone has circulated online. It may be the first look at the flagship smartphone if the images are authentic.

KKJ.CN leaked the supposed photos of the Sony Xperia X 2017 and it shows thin bezels which is not quite similar to its predecessors. The image itself states that it was taken in Oct. 3, 2016 which means that there is a gap of several months.

The leaked photo shows the packaging of the smartphone which is similar to other leaks in the past. Even the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge had a packaging leak before it was officially revealed in 2016.

There is no official confirmation from Sony regarding the Xperia X 2017 photo leak, PC-Tablet reported. The packaging seems to be larger than the usual ones which suggests that there could be a bundled VR headset inside.

The new smartphone from Sony is expected to carry at least 3GB RAM with two variants carrying 32GB and 64GB internal storage. Hopefully, Sony increases the battery life to at least 3000mAh considering that the 2016 version had just 2620mAh.

Powering the device could be a Snapdragon 653 from Qualcomm. The screen size may still be a 5-inch design but Sony may also upgrade it to 5.5-inch to compete with others.

Speaking of the 2016 version, the Sony Xperia X will be the first non-Google smartphone to feature the Android 7.1.1 Nougat version. Sony Xperia X 2016 users can now download the Android 7.1.1 Nougat version update through the Concept Installer, 9 to 5 Google reported.

Sony may unveil the Xperia X 2017 version at the upcoming Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona while 2016 version users can now download the updated Nougat. Specs and release date will hopefully be revealed by then as well as the pricing and features.
