For the past few months, rumors of a new Blackberry smartphone have been making the rounds. The 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) officially kicking off on Jan. 5 in Las Vegas, Nevada and Blackberry may have just teased its new phone, which could be called Blackberry Press.
Steve Cistulli, North American president of Blackberry's new partner, TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited (TCT), posted a tweet that seemingly hinted about the new phone. The new device will likely make a debut at the aforementioned event. The four-second clip on Twitter also confirmed what fans have always loved about Blackberry - the physical QWERTY keyboard.

There is no surprise that Blackberry's new phone will be introduced at the 2017 CES. In December, Cistulli confirmed the news in a press release. He was quoted as saying, "We'll unveil more news at CES around our plans, showcasing the legacy of the BlackBerry smartphone brand, while also giving a glimpse into what new BlackBerry smartphones will offer as part of our bold new brand portfolio within TCT."
Apart from the recently dropped teaser, there is nothing much to know about this new Blackberry phone. What is highly likely is that the nostalgic physical keyboard is there to stay. The new Blackberry phone has been codenamed "Mercury" for the past few months. Previous rumors suggested that the device will have a 1620 x 1080 resolution, Android Central relayed.
Blackberry Press or Mercury is expected to run on a Snapdragon processor, with rumors pointing to a 625 SoC. Also, the device could have 3 GB of RAM with a 32 GB internal storage capacity. Previous leaked photos also showed that the device will have a 4.5-inch full HD display, an 18-megapixel camera and a 3,400 mAh battery unit.
Given the specs, the new Blackberry is expected to be a mid-range offering Android smartphone. While waiting for the official updates on the new Blackberry at the CES 2017, check out the story so far of the device codenamed Mercury in the video below.
