"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 recently cast Alexandra Chando to play the role of a doctor named Tara in episode 8.
Chando, who previously starred in the TV series "Lying Game," has some obvious resemblance with "The Vampire Diaries" alum Nina Dobrev. This has resulted in fans speculating that Chando has been cast in a recurring role to replace the actress, according to Yahoo.
However, since Chando will be playing the role of Tara and not Elena Gilbert, there is no way she was cast by executive producer Julie Plec to replace Dobrev. In fact, the exec previously expressed her confidence over Dobrev returning in the final episode of the hit The CW series.
While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Plec teased that the finale for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will be huge and memorable. She is also confident that Dobrev will agree to be part of it. "I feel very good about it! She and I have spoken and I know that she 100 percent wants to be there and I, of course, 100 percent want her to be there, so is just comes down to stupid things like scheduling. Honestly, let us put it this way: I would be devastated if it were not to work out, so I have feeling the cards will be in all our favor," she said.
Meanwhile, Plec also revealed that some of the characters who have said goodbye to Mystic Falls before may still return to the show. After all, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is the last season for the show after The CW decided to cancel it.
"Part of the fun this season is working in organic ways to see some familiar faces, and hopefully by the end of the season, we will have revisited at least a handful of them," she said.
In other news, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is on a short hiatus for the holidays. Episode 8, titled "We Have History Together," will air on The CW on Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. EST. The episode will mostly revolve around Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley).
