The latest details for "Injustice 2" will feature three new characters and Ed Boon shuts down March 2017 release date rumors.
It seems that "Injustice 2's" supposed March launch date has bee shut down by "Mortal Kombat" creator Ed Boon after video game website Game Transfers leaked a release date of the DC fighting game sequel on March 28 along with "Mass Effect: Andromeda" on March 31 and "Sniper Ghost Warrior" on April 4.
However, NetherRealm took notice on the March 28 release date and Boon tweeted that "Injustice 2" will not come out on that month this year.
Previous reports claimed that "Injustice 2" could launch within March for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One console as GameStop's marketing plan revealed that the sequel could be release in the first quarter of 2017 which is roughly on January-March alongside "Mass Effect: Andromeda" and "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild".
Now that Boon clarified the release date problem, it seems that gaming fans will still have to wait for NetherRealm Studios regarding upcoming details for "Injustice 2" very soon, VG 24/7 reported.
In other news, Boon teased three characters that could possibly join "Injustice 2's" growing roster.
Boon tweeted another character petition asking gaming and comic book fan as to which three of the Robins will be joining "Injustice 2". The choices include the current Robin Damien Wayne, Dick Grayson/Nightwing and Jason Todd. Jason Todd won the poll having 57 percent of the votes followed by Nightwing at 25 percent and Damien Wayne at 15 percent.
Red Hood has been one of the few DC characters being rumored into "Injustice 2's" roster with other characters such as Beast Boy, Starfire, John Constantine, Captain Cold, Black Canary, The Atom, Firestorm, Poison Ivy, Ra's al Ghul and many more.
Aside from Red Hood, two characters outside of DC Comics will be included in "Injustice 2" as guest fighters.
Boon tweeted an image a DVD set containing "Mortal Kombat" movie, its sequel "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation", "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" and "Spawn".
This could mean that Spawn will likely be added to "Injustice 2's" roster soon along with "Mortal Kombat" character Sub-Zero, Ubergizmo reported. NetherRealm Studios had a habit of putting several characters as guest fighters in their games. For example Freddy Krauger in "Mortal Kombat", Scorpion in "Injustice: Gods of Among Us" and Jason Voorheese, Leather Face, Predator and the Alien Xenomorph in "Mortal Kombat X".
So far, the playable characters in "Injustice 2" include Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd, Harley Queen and Deadshot.
"Injustice 2" will launch sometime in 2017 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms
