Koji Igarashi and the rest from Inti Creates have released a new developer update video showcasing a new level for the upcoming "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night." The video is less than a minute long and has no enemies in place but it showcases the use of procedural generated background details and weathering effects.
The video was shared on the official Kickstarter page and Igarashi, famous for his work on the "Castlevania" franchise, explained why there will be a stage set outside of a castle. He reveals that the village has been raided by demons and the player needs to traverse through it to reach the castle.
Igarashi also explained the historical background of the red sky shown in the footage. It is pointed out that this imagery was primarily inspired by the eruption of the Laki volcanic fissure which took place between 1783 and 1784.
A shop is also planned to placed somewhere within this level and the newly introduced character, Johannes, will be met in this stage as well. Igarashi also teased another character that will be introduced in this village level but could not say more, stating the information will be unveiled in a future update.
Fans of the "Castlevania" games will notice the similarities between those games and this stage. Similar villages have appeared in games like "Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia," "Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles" and "Castlevania II: Simon's Quest."
"Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" was originally scheduled to release this March but has since been pushed back to early 2018, Dual Shockers reported. Inti Creates recently worked with Comcept on "Mighty No. 9" which was poorly received and the delay was made to ensure the final product meets the quality demands of the developers and gamers alike.
The game will launch on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS Vita and Wii U. It is noted that the Wii U version may be cancelled in favor of a port on the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo has already ceased production for the Wii U and the Switch launches in March.
