"VVVVVV" and "Super Hexagon" developer Terry Cavanagh has launched his brand new game for PC, titled "Tiny Heist." The game can be played for free on a browser. It was previously referred to as "Untitled Stealthy Thing" and "Roguelike Stealthy Thing" before a final name was given for the game.

The main objective of the game is to navigate through floors of a tower, all the while stealing gems and other goodies and avoiding security. Guards, watch dogs and security cameras are always on the look-out. However, the game uses a turn-based system which gives some room to sit back and think.

Gamers won't want to take too long, however. After a set number of seconds more guards will begin entering the floor, making it harder to navigate without getting caught, PC Gamer reported. The player can knock out guards and alarms momentarily and there are items like a cardboard box to hide in plain sight. This is reminiscent of the cardboard box used in the "Metal Gear Solid" franchise.

All of the floors are procedurally generated and the game does feature perma-death. This means that each level is randomly made through each playthrough, guaranteeing no two games will play out exactly the same way. Dying automatically resets the game, forcing players to try again from the very beginning.

Cavanagh designed the game with its primitive, DOS-like 4-bit graphics and music as a final triumph for Flash, Dual Shockers reported. From this point on the developer would be switching to HTML5 and made a version of "Tiny Heist" for this platform. However, the HTML5 version is reportedly buggy and experimental as of the time being.

The developer also made no indication regarding ports or more content for the game. Cavanagh is stated to either be working on a similar game but with a broader scope or an entirely new "Roguelike" kind of game.
