It was last July when the fifth addition to George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series was made available to the readers. Now that it has been almost six years since the release of " A Dance With Dragons," recent reports claim that the sixth installment "The Winds of Winter" might have a better chance to be released this year.
Rumors are loud that "The Winds of Winter" is now on its final stage. Sources also said that Martin might be proofreading the book now before releasing it to its audience, CTimes reported. The report also suggested that the sixth installment of Martin's novel might finally be out in a couple of months.
According to the same publication, Martin may have provided a clue on the current status of "The Winds of Winter" through his post on his blog. The American novelist said that Halloween and Thanksgiving have always been his favorite holidays because these holidays are stress free. He added that Christmas has always provided him stress except this year, where he had a relaxing Christmas vacation. It can be recalled that Martin said before that he will put all his time and effort to finally complete "The Winds of Winter," which is why rumors suggest that Martin might have already finished the sixth installment of the book series (given that he did not have a stressful Christmas).
On the other note, News Everyday cited a possible major character death in "The Winds of Winter." It was said that Martin dropped a hint during an interview, which he commented that "winter is the time when things die."
In regards to the release date of "The Winds of Winter," the report noted that it is possible that the book will be made available this year. The report also cited that Martin was too preoccupied in 2016 with all the travels and appearances on different meetings or seminars. Rumors also suggested that the delay could be because Martin intends to give the series a superb conclusion.
