In "The Simple Intimacy of the Near Touch," will see Sybil inviting Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley) to return to Mystic Falls since she is still in search for the historical artifact. But other than this, Sybil also wants to taunt Damon with memories of Elena. In the previous seasons, Elena joined the same pageant and wore the exact same dress that Sybil will be wearing.
Meanwhile, Sybil's attempt to copy Elena has once again caused fans to think that she will be taking on the character because Dobrev will not be returning to "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale. Previously, executive producer Julie Plec expressed her confidence on getting Dobrev to sign on with her plans.
However, until today, Dobrev has not yet confirmed her return to the show. She has also not yet filmed any scenes secretly. Luckily for fans, there is still a lot of time since "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will only return to The CW this week with episode 8, titled "We Have History Together."
Elsewhere, Bonnie (Kat Graham) will also be returning to Paris with a vile that contains Enzo's (Michael Malarkey) blood. This causes Caroline (Candice Accola-King) to be alarmed that her best friend could be considering to turn into a vampire.
In other news, the second half of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will see Stefan and Damon feuding with each other. Plec told TV Line that Damon will be frustrated with Stefan since the latter wants to continue living in the dark side. "As Stefan finds himself more tempted by the darkness around him, Damon's going to become frustrated by the road his brother wants to travel down," she said.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, episode 9 will air on The CW on Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. EST.
