Remastered editions of other entries for "The Elder Scrolls" franchise are unlikely to be released. The reason behind it is due to the fact that Bethesda PR vice president Peter Hines revealed that the Special Edition of the "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" is a one-time thing.
In an interview with Xbox: The Official Magazine, as cited by Games Radar, Hines said that the "Skyrim Special Edition" only got released due to the porting work accomplished by Bethesda while preparing for the release of "Fallout 4" for the current generation of consoles. He also said Bethesda would prefer to spend their effort and manpower to something new.
What this means is that the company now wants to direct their effort and manpower in developing new projects instead. Ultimately, it confirms that the remasters of all the older titles like "The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion" are not in current consideration.
Nevertheless, "Skyrim" is not the first ever game Bethesda had remastered. After all, the studio also gave a special edition for the "Dishonored" game. It was another unique case, since it was at the very end of the previous console generation, which meant that it was easier to port to its current counterpart, Hines explained.
Thus, an "Oblivion Special Edition" is unlikely both in the near and far future, according to Game Rant, "The Elder Scrolls 6" may still be released, but it is not expected to be any time soon.
The "Skyrim Special Edition" is basically a graphically-updated version of the original game. However, both fans and critics alike have been positively responding to the game's release. It does not change the fact that Bethesda does not have any plans to release other "Elder Scrolls" games for now.
