Avid fans of tvN's fantasy series "Goblin" will have to wait for one week to watch episode 14. Originally scheduled for broadcast on Jan. 14 the said episode will be released next week.
With "Goblin" nearing its final chapter, the tvN drama's cast and crew members are busy wrapping up filming and production activities for the remaining four episodes. However, the release of episode 14 was recently moved to Jan. 20.
A tvN announcement, as obtained by Korean news outlet Chosun, indicated that a special episode will be aired on Jan. 14 instead of episode 14. With a condensed version that will explain the complicated relationships of beloved characters, the said one-hour special will also provide a hint of what viewers can expect from the final three episodes.
Meanwhile, it appears that the decision to move the release date for episode 14 will also give the crew members more time for post-production work. In an interview with the same news site, a member of the tvN drama recounted their difficulties of editing the episodes due to tight filming timelines, coupled with CGI work.
Moreover, the episode 14 broadcast delay will also provide the crew members a better chance to "deliver the highest quality product to viewers." With only four episodes left, avid fans are looking forward to discovering the fate of beloved characters such as the titular protagonist Shin (Gong Yoo), Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun), Sunny (Yoo In Na) and the Grim Reaper (Lee Dong Wook).
However, the week of Jan. 13 will serve as the tvN series' penultimate broadcast week. Given the new Jan. 20 release schedule for episode 14, the drama's final two episodes will be aired back-to-back on Jan. 21.
In other news, "Goblin," also known as "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God," recently reclaimed its top spot on a TV popularity chart. After "Hwarang" bumped Gong's fantasy drama to second place during the Christmas week period, the tvN series nabbed the first place on the Content Power Index (CPI) for the last week of December 2016.
"Goblin" posted a CPI score of 287.7 points, according to CJ E&M and Nielsen Korea, as cited by Yonhap News. "Hwarang" moved to the second spot, followed by "Legend of the Blue Sea" and "Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim."
"Goblin" episode 13 and a special episode will air on Jan. 13, Friday and Jan. 14, Saturday, respectively, on tvN. Watch a clip from the drama's previous episode below:
