"Infinite Challenge" fans have been thoroughly teased this week. Just a day after it was announced that the program is going on a short break, talks about comedian Noh Hong Chul returning to the MBC show began to surface.
Earlier this week, rumor has it that Noh will return to the popular variety show after ZE:A's Kwanghee enters the military in February. The former voluntarily dropped out of the program in 2014 after he was arrested for drunk driving.
Now, the show's producers finally addressed those rumors. While many fans wanted the comedian to return to the show, Noh himself has never expressed any plans to do so, Korean newsoutlet iNews24, as cited by All Kpop, quoted the show's producers as saying.
Since there can be many changes following "Infinity Challenge's" break, the show's producers hope viewers can wait for any official announcement rather than jumping to conclusions that can be harmful. The MBC show will go on a seven-week hiatus starting Jan. 28
The short break would give the cast and staff members an ample time to plan out and normalize the necessary processes to produce the show, Korean newsoutlet Sports Chosun reported. Unlike other shows, "Infinite Challenge" features different segments from time to time. Hence, the time available to produce it is never enough.
"It usually takes two weeks to plan and create a new project, but we broadcast every week," producing director Kim Tae Ho said, adding that their objective is not to create something spectacular, but rather to bring back the show's true colors. "When an episode airs in an incomplete state, it really pains me as a producing director."
Until then, a new travel variety program "Forty's Spring" will take over MBC's Saturday timeslot for three weeks. It will then be followed by a series of "Infinite Challenge" specials for around four weeks.
