With only three episodes left before avid viewers bid farewell to "Goblin," many fans are hoping that the tvN fantasy drama will continue to post strong TV ratings. Recently, the Gong Yoo starrer reached an impressive viewership mark following the release of episode 13.
"Goblin" episode 13 featured several emotional and shocking scenes that involved the Grim Reaper (Lee Dong Wook) and Sunny's (Yoo In Na) heartbreaking split, as well as the fall out of the goblin Shin (Gong) and the Grim Reaper's friendship. Given Shin's sacrifice to save Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun), TV ratings for the said episode soared to a new record high.
Aired on Jan. 13, Friday, episode 13 reached a viewership share of 16.5 percent in Seoul where more than 900,000 viewers watched the show, according to Nielsen Korea. Across the South Korean nation, the said episode posted TV ratings of 14.2 percent and a viewer count of around 1.7 million.
Moreover, the said TV ratings are higher as compared to episode 12 that posted viewership ratings of 15.6 percent in Seoul and 13.7 percent nationwide. Viewership shares for episode 13 increased 0.9 and 0.5 percentage points, respectively.
Meanwhile, "Goblin" episode 13 also reached high real-time viewership ratings of close to 20 percent. Across the Seoul metropolitan area, the said episode posted average ratings of 19.3 percent and even peaked at 24.43 percent, according to rating firm ATAM, as cited by Kdrama.
In other news, a behind-the-scenes clip released by tvN through its social networking services, obtained by All Kpop, showed the great teamwork between lead actors Gong and Lee. Filming the scene where the Grim Reaper tried to hold back Shin who wanted to punch Deok Hwa (Yook Sung Jae) after a god temporarily possessed the young man's body, it was revealed that Gong accidentally hit Lee.
Trying to do a flying kick while Lee held Gong back, the "Coffee Prince" actor's head hit the "My Girl" star's chin. After apologizing for the incident, Gong shared that it was Lee who suggested the said move.
"Goblin" will air episode 14 on Jan. 20, Friday, while episodes 15 and 16 will be released back-to-back on Jan. 21, Saturday on tvN. Watch a clip from episode 13 below:
