Miss A member Suzy's new solo reality show "Off the Record, Suzy" has become the subject of controversy a day after the show made its debut. The show's producing director (PD) is being accused of sexual harassment by netizens for asking the idol "indecent" questions during the episode.
During the premier episode of the reality show on Jan. 15, Sunday, the PD interviewed Suzy as they both enjoyed a drink or two. During the dialogue, the PD asked the idol to show him some photos on her phone, which took Suzy by surprise and after a moment of hesitation, she started glancing through the pictures on her phone to check if there was anything weird on there.
The producing director noticed her hesitancy and asked the singer if she had anything to hide. "I'm sure you don't have anything lewd, or anything," the PD was quoted as saying, to which Suzy replied, "There's nothing lewd. Just a lot of sweet photos."
While some viewers saw no issue with the PD's question, many of them thought that he crossed a line with his "indecent" joke. Netizens criticized the PD for insinuating that Suzy had lewd photos of herself on her phone and some fans even went as far as accusing the PD of sexual harassment.
In the wake of the backlash, the PD denied the allegations in an official statement obtained by All Kpop. "You felt that way... It wasn't anything like that, and there were a lot of things talked about during the filming," he said. "I think it was edited like that because we wanted to work with Suzy's comments as she was looking through her phone!"
"Off the Record: Suzy" was created by the same producer who worked on the Lee Hyori's version of the show, which aired on Mnet in 2008, according to the same publication. The reality show has fans interested as they get a sneak peek into the 22-year-old singer's lifestyle but most of them are excited to learn about Suzy's private life, including her romance with "Legend of the Blue Sea" actor, Lee Min ho.
