Several television dramas from the British TV distributor DRG, including the bridal reality show “Don’t Tell the Bride,” have received permission to be aired in Chinese homes.
Joining the reality show in getting licensed to air in China is Belgium's game show "Sooner or Later," both of which would be shown in the country for the very first time.
The Hollywood Reporter predicts a positive feedback on these shows from the Chinese audience, especially the bridal reality show which separates the couples for weeks before their wedding and makes the groom do all the preparations that is usually the bride's responsibility.
Meanwhile, four celebrity contestants of the Belgian game show would be embarking on a hilarious journey through five rounds where they are required to answer a series of questions about movies, politics, key events, music, culture, fashion and sports, all of which should only be answered by either "sooner" or "later."
The shows from DRG, part of the Scandinavian Modern Times Group's Nice Entertainment Group, are part of the company's plan to reach out to one of the world's fastest-growing movie markets.
"China is an incredibly important market for TV distribution and we are committed to growing our business in the region, and these deals show our ability to identify the opportunities in the market and secure important format deals all over the world," says DRG.
Aside from the two shows, DRG was also able to sell three more shows, including "The Symptom," which was originally produced by Group M Productions, "The Work Experience" from the 2LE Media, and "The Generation Show" produced by Live Entertainment.
