The latest details and spoilers for "The Flash" season 3 will feature the return of Ronnie Raymond and Eddie Thawne, as well as Barry Allen's plan to save Iris West.
The second haft of "The Flash" season 3 will feature the return of two season 1 characters in the show as Central City Police Department detective Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) and the former haft of Firestorm Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell).
Cosnett tweeted his return to "The Flash" season 3, but the cause of his sudden resurrection in the show is left unexplained. It is speculated that Eddie's return could be the result of the "Flashpoint" event. Eddie was inroduced in "The Flash" season 1 as Joe West's (Jesse L. Martin) partner in the CCPD, as well as the first love interest of Iris West (Candice Payton), making him Barry Allen's (Grant Gustin) rival for her affection.
Eddie is revealed to be the distant relative of The Flash's ultimate nemesis, Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher), who disguised himself as S.T.A.R. Labs founder Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh). Eddie sacrificed his life to defeat the Reverse-Flash and save Barry.
As for Ronnie Raymond, a report from Entertainment Weekly revealed that Robbie's return to "The Flash" TV series is being kept under wraps but it’s been confirmed that he will be appearing in a winter episode.
EW added that audiences might see Ronnie as an alternate version of himself from a different timeline or perhaps as a doppelganger from a different universe. These are just two possibilities, however, and it is possible that the producers have something different in mind.
Ronnie is the former haft of Firestorm along with Prof. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Cailtlin Snow's (Danielle Panabaker) husband before he met his demise in season 1, Like Eddie, Ronnie sacrificed his life to save Central City during the singularity, helping The Flash close it. Another version of the character was introduced in season 2 as the Earth 2 villain Deathstorm along with Killer Frost.
Meanwhile, co-producer Andrew Kreisberg teased Barry's plan to save Iris West from her death at the hands of Savitar, after he travelled to the future.
Kreisberg stated in an interview that Barry and Team Flash will learn a little bit more about the future and they now have a list of things they know will occur between now and May, suggesting majority of the second haft will be all about saving Iris to the point they will make small and big changes in order to prevent that future from happening, IDigital Times reported.
Episode 10 will feature Barry along with Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) encountering the villain Plunder, but has second thoughts about capturing him due to the events of the future.
The Flash returns on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017 at 8pm on The CW.
