"Goblin" three-part finale aired on tvN on Saturday, Jan. 21, and the highly-anticipated ending to the love story of Kim Shin and Eun Tak did not generate very high ratings.
According to IBTimes, the ratings for SBS "Legend of the Blue Sea" is improving week after week, and since its finale is scheduled to air on Wednesday, Jan. 25, fans have tuned in to Lee Min Ho's fantasy drama than to "Goblin."
The publication also revealed that a research firm conducted a brand reputation tally for TV shows based on the buzz it has created on social media. The result revealed that "Legend of the Blue Sea" has been receiving more followership online over "Goblin."
On top of this, Lee Min Ho's TV show is also the more talked about K-drama of its generation today. Every after an episode of "Legend of the Blue Sea" airs, fans go online to talk about the episode, share their insights, upload photos or memes, come up with their own theories, share spoilers and more.
The latest data Nielsen Korea also revealed that "Legend of the Blue Sea" was able to get a 15.5 percent rating for last week's episode. At that time, "Goblin" aired episode 14, as well as a special interim episode.
Meanwhile, the finale episode of "Goblin" which will air in three parts on tvN will focus on a possible reunion between Kim Shin or Goblin and Eun Tak. Photos from the set of the hit Korean drama showed Gong Yoo wearing Goblin's costume as a warrior. Other photos from the set also feature Eun Tak crying while recalling her forgotten memories from 10 years ago.
When she was just 19-years-old, Kim Shin decided to remove the sword that has been stuck on his chest so he could defeat Park Joong Hun. When he did this, Kim Shin's body disappeared into the air, and Eun Tak was not able to stop this from happening.
Before saving himself, Kim Shin first had an agreement with the Grim Reaper asking the latter to remove all of Eun Tak's memories so that she will forget what happened to Kim Shin. The Grim Reaper agreed to do so.
