Samsung has officially confirmed that the Galaxy S8 release will be delayed. The flagship Android smartphone from the South Korean tech company will not be present in the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2017.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 specs are expected to blow the previous phones away thanks to the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. In addition, the South Korean tech giant is pressured to launch a successful phone because of the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.
Delaying the release date may be the right move for Samsung as they would not want to raise doubts again. More security tests are being done to ensure that the new flagship smartphone will be safe to use every day.
Samsung mobile chief Koh Dong-jin told Reuters that they will not be unveiling the Galaxy S8 at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. It will be an unusual but understandable move for the company.
"The lessons of this incident are deeply reflected in our culture and process," Koh said. "Samsung Electronics will be working hard to regain consumer trust."
The Galaxy S8 is expected to be sold in April. The LG G6 will have an earlier release date, which may give it an advantage over its competitor.
One difference is that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be equipped with the 835 as the LG G6 specs will only use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, Android Central reported. This will give Samsung an advantage with a faster and more efficient mobile processor.
Among the Galaxy S8 specs are Quick Charge .0, Gigabit LTE and the new Bluetooth 5.0. It will also have more power to run VR experiences compared to the G6.
Samsung has yet to announce the Galaxy S8 release date and price. It is expected that the company will hold a press event to unveil more details. Find out more leaked details below:
