New "Injustice 2" update will feature more DC characters and beta test details, as well as a new gameplay trailer for Robin in the sequel.
NetherRealm Studios showcased a new character gameplay trailer for "Injustice 2" as Robin makes his way into the popular DC comics fighting game sequel. This version of Robin will be Damien Wayne, Bruce Wayne/Batman's son and a former member of Superman's One Earth Regime in the first game.
Damien made his debut in the first "Injustice" game as he assumed the mantle of Nightwing after that version's Dick Grayson died in the prequel comics. Damien joined Superman's regime as he fights his own father and the insurgents. In "Injustice 2" Damien returns as Robin with a katana, birdarangs and ninja skills to back it up.
It is unknown yet what kind of role will Robin play in "Injustice 2" as they now face a new threat in the form of Braniac.
Meanwhile, "Mortal Kombat" creator Ed Boon teased that "Injustice 2" will have obscure and lesser known DC characters for "Injustice 2". The first "Injustice" game covered all the high points as it relates to well-known DC characters, with the sequel diving deeper into some new characters that may not be memroble to most gamers.
Boon also teased that there is good chance NetherRealm will release third-party characters as DLC for "Injustice 2", two are already teased as Sub-Zero and Spawn. Overall "Injustice 2" will quite possibly have the largest roster of characters, in terms of on-disc and DLC characters, Gamespot reported.
"Injustice 2" will be an "ultimate Justic League story" as Boon and NetherRealm Studios could reveal a much more complex and thrillin story that will trump the first game. Boon added that the beta codes could be out within the afternoon, WWG reported.
Previous reports revealed that "Injustice 2" will have a 2v2 tag team style gameplay similar to 2009's "Mortal Kombat" reboot title which was first hinted in the "Injustice 2" FAQ.
There is also a chance that characters like Green Arrow, Black Canary, Black Adam, Scarecrow, Doctor Fate, Mr. Freeze, Catwoman, Cyborg and The Joker are coming to the sequel.
"Injustice 2" will launch on May 16 for the PS4 and Xbox One.
