The WWE has been teasing a lot of potential matches at WrestleMania 33 in the past couple of weeks. One of those matches Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman and it seems like the WWE is heading towards making it happen.
According to 411 Mania, some of the WWE advertisements for live events after the Royal Rumble are listing Reigns vs. Strowman. It is still not finalized but the match has been rumored for quite some time now.
Reigns could win the WWE universal championship at the Royal Rumble by defeating Kevin Owens. Although that is still up in the air, per Cageside Seats, the WWE have always favored pushing "The Big Dog" in big matches.
On the other hand, Strowman is among the favorites to win the Royal Rumble Match along with The Undertaker, Finn Balor and Samoa Joe. If these plans go through, Reigns vs. Strowman will surely happen at WrestleMania 33.
The WWE can also set it up in a lot of different and creative ways without sacrificing Owens' title reign. One option for the WWE is to have Strowman help KO retain the title by attacking Reigns during the title match since it has been ruled as a No Disqualification.
Reigns goes after Strowman at the Rumble Match and eliminate him. This sets up a showdown at WrestleMania 33 where the winner is a tossup. The WWE has built Strowman as a monster while Reigns is booked like his usual unstoppable self.
Nevertheless, these two superstars are set to cross paths some way or another. According to Forbes, the WWE can also give Strowman the record for most elimination in a single Royal Rumble match. The current record is held by Reigns with 12.
"The Guy" did it back in 2014 when he was part of The Shield and he was still cheered organically by fans. The WWE universe has accepted Strowman because of how well he has been booked on television. His off cam personality has also been leaked online and the IWC loves him.
The plans for the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 33 are still not finalized. The WWE is looking to be very unpredictable and they are going to be tested this Sunday. As for WrestleMania 33, the fans will have no problems watching Reigns vs. Strowman as long as it's not for the WWE Universal Championship.
