Miss Spain Noelia Freire, 24, is aware that she is not one of the favorites among the 86 candidates of Miss Universe 2016. However, the former hairdresser believes that she can become Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach's successor.
In an interview with EFE, Freire pointed out that it is not impossible for her to be crowned Miss Universe 2016 despite not being one of the most popular contestants. She describes herself as a simple and independent woman who is eager to work.
What Freire wants it to stay true to herself throughout the Miss Universe 2016 competition. For her, it is her naturalness that could help her become the 65th queen of the international beauty pageant.
For Freire, she does not have to play a role to do her job well or to make people like her. She pointed out that she has the qualities needed to become a Miss Universe ambassador.
Crowned Miss Spain in December 2015, Freire dreams of being a Victoria's Secret model. She regularly works out, loves sports and enjoys playing basketball and soccer.
Freire would like to raise awareness for breast cancer if she is crowned the successor of Wurtzbach. The reigning Miss Universe 2015 is known for being an HIV awareness advocate.
"It is shocking that the Philippines has one of the fastest growing rates of HIV infection in the world," UNICEF quoted Wurtzbach as saying. Many of those who get infected are young people. I want to use my voice to help lift up those who are living with HIV and to bring awareness to young people who do not know how to protect themselves against this virus."
Wurtzbach will crown her successor on Jan. 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Steve Harvey will be the host with "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 23 judge Ashley Graham as the backstage host.
