Speculations are rife that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release may happen at the Mobile World Congress, which will be held in Barcelona. MWC will be held from Feb. 27 to March 2 and it will be the venue for new product and software launches.
The MWC is a popular platform for launching new smartphones and other devices and hence, Sony is expected to launch five new smartphones at the conference. Alcatel is also planning to come out with a new modular smartphone at this venue. On the other hand, Xiaomi is planning to skip the conference this time around.
Microsoft Surface Pro 5 was earlier expected to release in October 2016 as Surface Pro 4 had released in October 2015. However, the company decided to delay the launch as it is planning to incorporate some new hardware in the device in order to regain its market share. Surface Pro 4 did not have a good run in the sales department and its successor is expected to reverse the company's fortunes.
In this regard, the upcoming device comes packed with the latest seventh generation Kaby Lake processor, which has very good heat dissipation techniques, according to Forbes. The device is designed in such a way that it remains cool even when it is being used for hours on end.
Apart from the heat issue, these Kaby Lake processors will also guarantee better battery life along with some amazing processing speed. Thus, the upcoming device is technologically more advanced than the latest Apple MacBook Pro, which has the sixth generation of the Kaby Lake processors, according to the same publication.
On the other hand, Microsoft is also offering the Surface Pro 4 on heavy discounts, which also adds credence to the rumor that the release of Surface Pro 5 is imminent. Customers can easily get a discount of almost 20 percent on some models of the device.
Customers in the United States can get discount up to $100 on the low-end models. Most of the promotional discount schemes on Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will end on Jan. 31.
