Swansea City has won two of their last three games to climb out of the bottom three relegation area, where the team had been settled for most of the current term. They are now in the 17th spot of the 20-team English top flight table, two points above Crystal Palace and Hull City who are tied on points in the relegation zone.
The Swans are coming off an impressive 3-2 victory over title contenders Liverpool FC on the road at the Anfield on Jan. 21, the Independent reported.
Swansea was gritty right from the start as the team forced the Reds into a goalless tie at the end of the first half. Spanish striker Fernando Llorente then netted the first two goals of the contest, in the 48th and 52nd minutes, to give head coach Paul Clement's team a 2-0 lead.
Liverpool did not give up, though, as they managed to equalize the count with Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino responding with a brace of his own in the 55th and 69th minutes.
However, midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson netted the winner in the 74th minute with a short stab around Simon Mignolet.
Meanwhile, Southampton thrashed defending champions Leicester City, 3-0, at their home ground of St. Mary's Stadium on Jan. 22, as per the Telegraph.
James Ward-Prowse opened the scoring for head coach Claude Puel's side in the 26th minute before striker Jay Rodriguez doubled their lead in the 39th.
Serbian midfielder Dusan Tadic sealed the win with a successful penalty kick in the 86th minute as the Saints finally snapped a four-game losing slide.
