Fans of Castiel (Misha Colins) waiting to see the early life of the angel will now have the chance to know his past. Not much is known about Castiel's history, but the next episode of "Supernatural" Season 12 will unfold the unexpected side of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean's (Jensen Ackles) ally.
"Supernatural" Season 12 is a Castiel-centric episode that will feature the dark past of the angel. Among all the angels in heaven, he is the only one, who disobeyed God's rules to help humans. He died many times, but was reborn multiple times by God to help the Winchester brothers.
"We're seeing the earliest version of Cas to date," Misha Collins told TVLine. Executive producer Andrew Dabb added, "The angel was part of the battalion that was watching Earth. He was the guy that harrowed Hell to rescue Dean Winchester."
"Supernatural" Season 12 episode 10 will see a part of Castiel's history that has something to do with Lily Sunder (Alicia Witt). Witt told the publication that an old story between Lily and Castiel will bring back the friction between the two. She also teased that Lily is back to take her revenge to the bunch of angels, who killed her family, including Castiel.
Lily has been perfecting her black magic skills over the century to make her biggest vengeance. Castiel will tell Sam and Dean that his allies are being killed one by one. Before Lily finds Castiel, the angels will try to save the latter.
The last episode of "Supernatural" Season 12 titled "First Blood" saw Castiel and Mary (Samantha Smith) helping each other to save Sam and Dean from the prison. The British Men of Letters appeared to assist in saving the Winchester brothers.
Mary's relationship with her sons will be highlighted in the next episode of Season 12. In an interview with Mashable, Dabb said that although Sam and Dean are happy to be with Mary, they believe that things could be different if Mary was with them when they were growing up.
More on relationships, viewers would also witness the growing closeness between Castiel and Mary in the upcoming episode of "Supernatural" Season 12. There are things that Mary could not confide to her sons. With this limitation, a brewing closeness between Castiel and Mary is worth to be seen in this week's episode.
"Supernatural" season 12 episode 10 titled "Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets" airs on Feb. 2, Thursday, at a new time of 8 p.m. EST on The CW. Watch the promo video of episode 10 below:
