The upcoming edition of WrestleMania is shaping up to be a memorable one, especially with the shock results at the past Royal Rumble. Randy Orton is set to headline at "the grandest stage of them all" after winning his second Royal Rumble match, while John Cena and Kevin Owens walked out of the event as world champions. Now, the road to WrestleMania continues on WWE Raw and SmackDown.
First off, former two-time NXT champion Samoa Joe finally made his much-awaited debut on the main roster after he attacked Seth Rollins on the latest edition of Raw. While Joe was widely expected to make his debut as a participant in the Royal Rumble, his first appearance on the main roster was definitely an eventful one, as his ambush caused Rollins to reinjure his knee.
The injury, which will put Rollins out for around eight weeks was was not part of the storyline surrounding his feud with Triple H. There is no word yet whether Joe will face any repercussions regarding the accident, according to Wrestle Zone. It also not yet known if whether the supposed matchup between Rollins and Triple H at WrestleMania 33 will still follow through.
Speaking of injuries, Rusev is currently nursing a legitimate broken nose. Fans definitely noticed that he wore a protective face mask while he participated in the proceedings in the Royal Rumble as well as the Raw show the next day. He continued to work the last time he suffered a legitimate injury and things will not be different this time around.
As previously mentioned, Cena dethroned AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble event to become the WWE champion, his sixteenth world championship in his professional wrestling career. The two of them look all but set for a rematch following putting on one of the greatest title matches in WWE history. However, Cena may not be defending the title come WrestleMania.
This is because Cena is expected to participate in a tag team match alongside his partner Nikki Bella to take on The Miz and his wife Maryse, according to the Bleacher Report. This will reportedly be Bella's last ever match as a professional wrestler due to recurrent problems with her neck.
