Hideo Kojima talks about some new elements of his upcoming game "Death Stranding." Also, he sheds some light on how he decided to partner with Sony despite the many offers he received.
In a video of the RTX Sydney event, Kojima mentioned that he received a lot of business offers from companies in and out of the gaming industry. He even went to say that a company from the United Arab Emirates proposed a deal involving a lot of money in return.
Kojima chose to stick to Sony as his partner since he is familiar with the company the most. According to Dual Shockers, the former Konami developer worked with the company for over two decades, so he knows the people from the topmost to the bottommost position.
He adds that in order to make "Death Stranding" a great success, he thinks that working with Sony presents the least risks. After all, Sony is giving Kojima total creative freedom to do what it takes to make "Death Stranding."
On the other hand, Sony is handling the large-scale promotion efforts for the game. The company still collaborates with Kojima in devising the promotional efforts, further cementing the mutual trust between the two parties.
As for the current state of the game, Kojima said that his team at Kojima productions are currently working on the game's logic and the various systems on the framework. After that, they will focus on filling out the game world and integrate it on the foundation they built.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Glixel, Kojima said that he does not want to have a dark mindset in making the game. As such, "Death Stranding" is not a horror game, but will be unique and have a more artistic aspect to it.
"Death Stranding" is rumored to be released sometime in 2018. Here is the latest teaser video for the game:
