Despite being the biggest cash cow and star of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Conor McGregor is not afraid to say that nobody can stop him from locking horns against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in what is touted one of the biggest fights of the decade, even the mixed martial arts promotion that made him a millionaire.
The reigning UFC lightweight champion is still on a hiatus but it might be the boxing ring he will make his return to instead of the Octagon as he said in front of his fans in England that he has set his eyes on fighting Mayweather, Yahoo Sports reported.
McGregor, who is still under contract with the UFC, believes he can turn the fight into a reality even without the MMA promotion's permission but said it will be good for business if the UFC is involved. However, he added that nobody, not even UFC president Dana White, can prevent him from pursuing a boxing career.
It is not surprising that the Irish fighter wants to pursue the Mayweather bout, knowing that every fight 'Money' is involved in, it makes good money. McGregor has a net worth of $22 million and is the only UFC fighter to be included in Forbes' top 100 list but he can double or triple his money by fighting the undefeated boxer. It can be remembered that Mayweather raked in a payday of more than $200 million in his fight against Manny Pacquiao in 2015.
McGregor said that he has the reach, the youth and the style to match Mayweather's and UFC coach Mark Henry believes the Irishman can pull off a knockout against the former pound-for-pound king, SB Nation's MMA Mania reported.
Henry mentioned McGregor's swing and physique as game changers in the much-awaited bout and said that he can knockout Mayweather in the first four rounds. However, if McGregor can't finish the fight early, Henry noted that it is Mayweather's fight to lose.
