The K-Pop industry has bid farewell to some of our favorite girl groups over the past few months. Some called it quits due to failed contract negotiations while some split up in order to pursue a solo dream. Here are some of the popular K-Pop girl groups that are no more:

Wonder Girls

One of the most popular girl groups in the Korean entertainment industry, "Wonder Girls," announced its disbandment on Jan. 26, via JYP Entertainment in a statement obtained by Channel News Asia. The group had a successful 10-year career, during which they delivered hits like, "Nobody," "Tell Me" and "So Hot." The band will be releasing their final single as a group on Feb. 10, Friday.

I.O.I.

The 11-member girl group, which was formed through the television show, "Produce 101," split up in January 2017 with the release of their last single, "Downpour." I.O.I. shot to popularity after the release of their EP, "Chrysalis," and have been responsible for many hits including the viral electro-pop song, "Very Very Very."

2NE1

On Nov. 25, YG Entertainment officially confirmed via a statement obtained by All Kpop that the iconic K-pop group will be breaking up. Along with the announcement of the group's disbandment, the agency also announced the renewal of CL and Dara's contracts as solo artists. Minzy left the group in April while Park Bom's contract was not renewed. 2NE1 released their final song, titled "Goodbye," on Jan. 21.

The five-member K-pop girl group decided to go their separate ways in June 2016 after a seven-year run as their contracts with Cube Entertainment approached its expiry. However, HyunA renewed her contract with the label as a solo artist.

SPICA

The five-member girl group SPICA also decided to disband as a group recently after five years of activities. The group made its debut under B2M Entertainment in 2012 with the mini-album " Russian Roulette" before signing with CJ E&M in 2015. SPICA's last release, "Secret Time" came in August 2016 after a long hiatus.
