The hype and marketing ploy being executed by AMD seemed to have paid off, as gamers and experts are highly anticipating its release. However, it is not just consumers who are preparing for the release of Ryzen CPU, for Intel has made its own preparation behind the scene. To face the Ryzen line-up, Intel would also be releasing Core i7 7740K and Core i5 7640K CPU, Canada PC Hardware.

This latest marketing move by Intel implicitly confirms the potential threat of AMD's Zen based architecture to their dominance. To go along with the release of new Intel CPUs, adjustments to the tariff schedules are being made on specific Intel products.

It has already been known that the Ryzen line up is designed to boost clock-cycle performance by 40 percent. Apart from that, the upcoming Ryzen processors also boast of reduced power draw, heat output, and an enabled higher clock speed as the system gets cooler, according to Tom's Guide.

Aside from the aforementioned Ryzen features, Intel would also have to deal with the price friendly and better performance of Ryzen variants. AMD has been highlighting ever since that Ryzen is comparable or even better to that of Intel's Core i7 6900K.

As a response to the threat of AMD, Intel will be releasing Core i7 7740K and Core i5 7640K CPUs. The former having 8 MB of L3 with a base frequency of 4.30 GHz, while the latter quad core processor comes with 6MB L3, a 4.0GHz base frequency with Hyper-threading. This would then make Core i5 7640K the first a Core i5 Desktop with active SMT.

As of the current writing, there is still no news on the price, release date, and further specs of Intel's upcoming offering. However, the Canadian tech magazine assured that more details and confirmation would be released after the sample should arrive at the end of the week.
