There are some interesting developments going on with "Pacific Rim's" sequel - "Pacific Rim 2: Uprising." Image renders of the new Jaegers have been let out in the open and they have indeed undergone some major overhauls.
The recently released photo of the mechanized titans provided a preview to fans on what to expect in the sequel. The image boasted three Jaegers painted with red, blue, and gray as it was first spotted in License Global's website.
None of these new mechs resemble the Gipsy Danger that was introduced in the first film. However, one of them dons a glowing chest piece similar to Danger's. Meanwhile, the other Jaeger - the one with a red paint job, looks like "Evangelion's" Unit-02.
It is rest assured though that the Danger jaeger will rise to fight another day as it was already teased by actor John Boyega who is also tapped to be part of the sequel. Joining Boyega is Scott Eastwood who will also portray as one of the Jaeger pilots. Raleigh Beckett, played by "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam, will not be back in the new film and this has been confirmed since summer of 2016, MovieWeb reported.
In the interim, Legendary's senior vice president of franchise management - James Ngo has expressed his excitement in joining the media giant as he revealed that it has a lot of projects lined up. Apart from "Uprising," he mentioned that "Lost In Space" will also be part of the 2018 roster though details about it are sparse as of late.
2019 also looks promising for the company as Ngo also revealed that a "Pokemon" film is in the pipeline including the sequel to 2014's "Godzilla." He also mentioned that Legendary has acquired the rights to Frank Herbert's 1965 sci-fi novel "Dune" and went on saying that the roster of projects in the coming years are such strong contenders and will be fun to work on.
