The lengthy sneak peek lasted for 12 minutes as it showed the latest technology in gaming which is augmented reality (AR). Moreover, the clip showcased some not so subtle brandings including Sony themselves, Comicbook has learned.

Speaking of such, anime pundits also noticed some sort of a mashup between "SOA" and the seinen manga-turned-anime series - "Working!!" or "Wagnaria!!" in the western region. There was a scene in the preview where protagonists Kirito and Asuna, together with a couple of their friends are seen grabbing a quick snack at a  diner with the same name.

"Ordinal Scale" (OS) is set in 2026 where gamers are introduced to a new gaming console dubbed as Augma. The new device will be pitted against NerveGear's successor - the Amusphere that still dons a full dive feature.

Unlike the latter, the Augma does not have a full dive function which means players can receive audio, video, tactual data from the gear even when they are awake. Such element made it a huge hit among gamers that Asuna started to hop in with the fad.

Kirito, later on, decided to give the new system a test run and see for himself what the fuzz is all about. However, he soon discovered that beasts from the virtual world of Aincrad began to appear in the Augma-exclusive title.

"Ordinal Scale" will be released this Feb. 18 in Japan and in South East Asia while fans in the U.S. will have a special screening on March 9 in select movie houses. Tickets are now being sold online and fans might want to check Fathom Events' website for further details.
