After the intriguing entry of Niantic Labs' augmented reality game Pokemon GO in 2016, it created a cultural phenomenon of putting the famous Pocket Monsters upon the world streets. Now, the infamous AR is setting up another monumental update, which should pull over more trainers. The developer Niantic announced that the giant update this week will add 80 new Pokemon from the Johto compendium.
After eight months of sitting in the app stores and improving the game's Pokemon hunting experience, the AR game is finally putting the second generation of Pokemon in the game. Trainers may spot the new 80 Pokemon, taken from the classic Pokémon "Gold" and "Silver" Game Boy Color games, in the wild anytime this week.
According to Business Insider, Niantic's team did not yet disclosed the full roster of new Pokemon; however, in a released promotional poster, starter trio Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile appeared to be the primary creatures coming with the update, as joined by Espeon, Umbreon, Merrill, Bellossom, and Hoppip.
The upcoming Pokemon GO update will also include new evolutionary items and two berries. The evolutionary items may circulate on the Johto Pokemon, like the "King's Rock" item that can cause Slowbro to evolve into Slowking during trade, in the Pokemon "Gold" and "Silver" franchise.
The two types of berries that will be added on the game are the Nanab and Pinap berries. The Nanab Berry can slow down a Pokémon's movements, while the Pinap Berry doubles the amount of candy a trainer can acquire if the next catch attempt is successful.
Bundled with the new Pokemon creatures are new selections of accessories, hats, shirts, and pants options to customize an avatar's appearance. More premium items can also be purchase from the in-game Pokémon Go shop once the update comes.
On another note, two new features that can change the interaction of trainers should be added in the game soon. According to the founder and CEO of Pokemon GO developer Niantic John Hanke, trainers will be treated with real-time player battles and co-operative trading in the coming updates, BGR reported.
In an interview, Hanke revealed that the upcoming features are under construction, which was further delayed owing to prevalent server issues that the company should attend first. He said: "It's going to be done soon. It is what it is. I'll take the massive wave of hysteria we enjoyed, and just deal with the fact that it's caused us to take a bit longer to get the rest of the features up. We're really happy to make our users happy."
