The past few weeks had been tough for "Game of Thrones" cast members who had to endure the cold weather in Iceland. They have been filming in negative 25 degrees Centigrade and 100 mph winds.
Stars Kit Harington, Liam Cunningham, Joe Dempsie, Rory McCan and Kristofer Hivju who play Jon Snow, Davos Seaworth, Gendry, Sandor "The Hound" and Tormund Giantsbane, respectively have been working in the cold weather. There were rarely daylights which only lasted five to six hours daily.
Filming equipments were brought via super jeeps while the actors were dressed in hotels and arrived to filming locations 90 percent ready. Russian tents that could be heated and could withstand the 100 mph winds were installed on the set, Page Six reported. The cast and crew members usually lived in small hotels in the country's remote areas and they were the only guests.
It was challenging to record the dialogue between characters because of the high winds so cast members needed to shout. Though it was cold, lowland sites lacked snow.
Though the "Game of Thrones" Season 7 storyline is still under wraps, there are suggestions that the Night Watch members will go to the Wall's north on a mission. Rumors have it that there will be a fight between humans and the White Walkers.
It is believed that the White Walkers will bring in winter and darkness. Furthermore, HBO's monster hit is said to air in the summer because the production needs arctic weather as winter is already in the story.
"Game of Thrones" will leave the lives of its followers forever after Season 8 in 2018. While the fans are feeling more anxious, the cast members of the multi Emmy awarded fantasy series feel the same.
"Because we know we're coming to an end, so not only do we feel the passage of time," Cunningham told Mashable. "Rhat's also been reflected in what we're shooting. I've never committed to a job like this before. I've got a family on this that I'm gonna miss hugely."
Cunningham has been with the fantasy series since Season 2. It is likewise sad for the cast members as they will not be able to hang out as much, Alfie Allen told the online media company. Allen plays Theon Greyjoy, one of the surviving characters of the series.
