Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has revealed a new iteration in its mid-ranger portfolio after naming its Nova Lite smartphone. The handset will be available in Japan, China, and Europe under different names.
Upon release, the smartphone will be marketed as Huawei Nova Lite, and will be internationally known as the Huawei P8 Lite (2017). According to reports, it is released as the Honor 8 Lite in the Chinese retailers.
Specs-wise, the Huawei Nova Lite features a 5.2-inch display that sports a Full High Definition resolution of 1920 X 1080 pixels, MNA reported. Under the hood, the said device covers a lesser amount of internal storage and a different processor, against its sibling the Huawei Nova.
The smartphone will be armed with a decent 2.1GHz octa-core Kirin 655 processor, coupled with 3GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB memory. The Kirin 655 chipset sports an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU and Mali-T830MP2 graphics processing unit.
In its optics department, the Huawei Nova Lite features a single-lens 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and f/2.0 aperture, as well as an 8-megapixel front-snapper camera.
Although the Nova Lite is a pure mid-range handset, it will ship the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with the Emotion 5.0 UI, Huawei's customization over the stock Android. A fingerprint sensor will also be mounted on the handset's rear panel. It houses a 3000 mAh non-removable battery.
According to Phone Arena, the smartphone supports dual-SIM, as well as Cat.4 LTE for faster download speeds. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, NFC, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS with GLONASS, FM Radio, a microUSB port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope. It measures 147.20 x 72.94 x 7.60 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 147.00 grams.
As of press time, the smartphone is available in China, Finland, and Japan, under different names: Huawei P8 lite (2017) and Huawei Nova Lite. On the latest news, the handset will be set on sale in Japan in three color variants, black, gold, and white. Other territories should expect the phone's release date anytime soon.
