It looks like Monolith Productions' "Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor" will have a sequel after all, thanks to Target. The retail giant just posted a listing on their website about the game's follow-up dubbed "Shadow of War" and even disclosed its release date.
The sad news though is that the said post was already taken down by Target. However, some quick clickers on the web were able to screen grab the listing and took to NeoGAF to announce such unlikely find.
The rumored next installment of the game is said to focus on Talion and Celebrimbor who were also the protagonists of the original game. If speculations are to be believed, the two are bound to hammer out a powerful ring that is said to match that of Sauron's, according to Kotaku.
Moreover, "Shadow of War" is believed introduce new abilities and skills including a brand new stronghold mechanics. It is also expected that the game's Nemesis System will be back in "Shadow of War" to further beef up Talion's armaments.
As per the game description, players will sneak up "behind enemy lines" as they put up their own troops. The above-mentioned Nemesis System was also highlighted as players will face Lord Sauron and his minion of Ringwraiths (Nazguls) in the new game.
A Gold Edition of the game was also spotted including the contents that go alongside it. The variant will contain Slaughter and Outlaw Tribes for its Nemesis expansions and two more game segments namely "The Blade of Galadriel" and "Desolation of Mordor." A gold war chest will also be chipped in on the said game edition as the entirety of the contents will have a $125 value, Gamespot reported.
"Shadow of War" is believed to be released on Aug. 22. However, such information has to be chewed on with pinches of salt.
