South Korean-Chinese boy group EXO is currently the best K-Pop male group. This is according to the fans from around the world who responded to an annual survey.
At the 12th Annual Soompi Awards, EXO was declared the Best Male Group. Voted by hallyu fans from 139 countries across the globe, the winners of the annual survey were announced on March 2, Thursday, by Soompi.
With Fuse and ZANYBROS as partners, the United States-based online news provider specializing in Korean pop culture received almost 100 million votes from Dec. 19, 2016 to Jan. 16. There were 29 categories in the survey.
Almost four years ago, EXO released its first album titled "XOXO." The album won Disk Daesang at the 28th Golden Disk Awards and Album of the Year at the 15th Mnet Asian Music Awards.
Currently, EXO has nine active members. They are Xiumin, Suho, Lay, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Sehun, Kai and D.O.
Recently, it was announced that Kai will star in a new Japanese drama with a working title "Spring Has Come," Naver has learned. Written by Kuniko Mukōda, the drama is based on the original Japanese novel of the same name.
In "Spring Has Come," which focuses on family life in modern society, Kai will play a Korean cameraman, the main character in the drama. This is the first time that a non-Japanese actor will play the lead in a drama produced by channel WOWOW.
Fans of Kai should also wait for the release of "Andante." The K-Pop star is currently filming for the pre-produced KBS drama series, which is expected to premiere before 2018.
Joining Kai in the main cast of "Andante" are Lee Ye Hyun as Lee Shi Young and Baek Cheol Min as Park Ga Ram. Playing supporting characters are Kim Ki Soo, Ahn Seung Kyun, Kim Jin Kyung, Song Ji Hyun, Baek Eun Kyung, Jeon Mi Seon, Sung Byung Suk and Baek Seuong Do.
