Selena Gomez and Jin Goo have one thing in common aside from the fact that they are both celebrities. The two celebrate their birthdays every July 20. The singer and actress will turn 24 while the "Descendants of the Sun" actor will be 37 almost four months from now.
Before Gomez turns 24 on July 20, Netflix will release "13 Reasons Why," a new series executive produced by Justin Bieber's former girlfriend. An adaptation of the best-selling book of the same name written by Jay Asher, the show is about the aftermath of a suicide.
Initially, Gomez was considered to be the lead actress of a film adaptation of the book. She told Deadline that the story of the series is significant to her as a young celebrity whose life is very public.
"I've had these conversations with my fans," Gomez, who is currently the most followed person on Instagram, told the publication. "They tell me these things. I can't stand social media. I can't stand what they think is reality."
"13 Reasons Why" will have 13 episodes and it will premiere on Netflix on March 31 at midnight in the United States and at 8 a.m. in the United Kingdom, according to Radio Times.
This is just days before the release of "One-line," a drama film starring Jin opposite "Misaeng" alum Yim Si Wan.
Directed by Yang Kyung Mo, "One-line" will hit theaters in South Korea on March 29. It is the first project of Jin after "Descendants of the Sun."
Jin and Song Joong Ki played soldiers in "Descendants of the Sun." Joining them in the main cast were Song Hye Kyo and Kim Ji Won.
In 2009, Jin attended the Cannes Film Festival. Starring Jin, Kim Hye Ja and Won Bin, Bong Joon Ho's film "Mother" competed in the Un Certain Regard section but lost to Yorgos Lanthimos's film "Dogtooth."
