The "Fantastic Four" franchise is currently at an impasse, as movie execs have yet to decide whether to move forward with a sequel to the 2015 film or do a reboot all over again.
The 2015 "Fantastic Four" was a flop of epic proportions, as the movie did not live up to expectations and received a bevy of negative criticism.
"I think we tried to make a darker Fantastic Four movie, which seemed like a radical idea but we were kind of messing with the DNA of the actual comic instead of trusting the DNA of the comic," Simon Kinberg told Den of Geek about the flawed superhero reboot.
There are talks, however, that Fox may still make another "Fantastic Four" movie. "I think the truth is we would not make another Fantastic Four movie until it was ready to be made. One of the lessons we learned on that movie is that we want to make sure we get it 100% right, because we will not get another chance with the fans," Kinberg told Collider about the possibility of doing another movie.
Although Kinberg wants to bring back Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell as the core superhero team, it is also possible that the next film would start from scratch altogether-that is to have a new cast and a new story. If ever that's the case, here are some fresh picks to play the role of the Fantastic Four members.
Mister. Fantastic/Reed Richards
Critics suggest that one of the things that didn't work with the 2015 "Fantastic Four" reboot is that they cast young actors to play the superheroes. In the comics, Reed appears to be the more mature, father-figure of the group. Teller appeared to be too young for the role, so it's a better move to have someone more mature-looking like Jon Hamm, Matthew Goode or John Krasinski to take on the role.
Invisible Woman/Sue Storm
Sue and Reed eventually become a couple in the comics, and thus it would work well to cast and actor around the same age group as the actor for Reed Richards. Michelle Williams or Carey Mulligan would be perfect to play the blonde superhero.
Human Torch/Johnny Storm
Chris Evans perfectly played the role of the naïve, youthful and sometimes overly confident Johnny Storm in the first two "Fantastic Four" movies. A good bet for the role would be Alden Ehrenreich who can both portray a younger or more mature Johnny Storm.
Thing/Ben Grimm
Michael Chiklis was a good choice to play Ben, being the big guy who protects his friends. A good choice to take on the role would be Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Vin Diesel.
