PlayStation 3 and 4 owners can now start cutting their cable TV cords and enjoy internet streaming TV as Sony released PlayStation Vue.
PlayStation Vue is the company's effort to jump into the internet streaming TV wagon. Competing against the likes of Sling TV, NetFlix and Apple's upcoming Apple TV.
This is good news for people who are considering to cut their cable TV cords and switch to wireless internet TV, as more choices are starting to saturate the market with competitive prices.
According to CNet, Vue's Head of Product, Daniel Myers expressed that this is the company's move to provide entertainment not just for gamers, but for the whole household.
"Lots of people use these platforms to consume Netflix and other digital media. The household is bigger than just the guy who bought the PlayStation." says Myers.
The service's offers a variation of 85 local and regional distinct channels that includes big time network providers like CBS, Fox, NBC, Discovery Channelm Scripps, Turner, Viacom and AMC.
The basic subscription costs $49.99 a month, covering 50 of the most popular channels that most cable TV subscriptions offer.
Unfortunately, ABC is not yet part of Sony's network roster. Negotiations are still on its way in order for Vue to include popular channels like Dinsey and ESPN, PC Mag reported.
Sony offers two more Vue packages. The $59.99 "Core" package that will consist of more sports channels, and the $69.99 "Elite" package that will include all the 85 channels.
The service is now available in for PS3 and PS4 users from Chicago, New York and Philadelphia, and is expected to reach the whole US and worldwide in the coming weeks.
An iPad version of the service is also on its way.
For PS3 and PS4 users who wants to experience the service, Sony is offering PlayStation Vue for a 7-Day trial.
