Film Financial Services (FFS), a United States-based outfit, is partnering with China’s Citic Guoan to produce “An’shu,” a 3D fantasy movie production worth $40 million.
Citic Guoan, the filmmaking arm of the Chinese conglomerate Citic Group, is also planning to make five movies with FFS, as reported by Mtime. These films will focus on honing and harnessing new talents.
David Sheldon, the chief executive officer of FFS, revealed that a Hollywood team would provide the script. For Citic Guoan’s part, the firm’s production base in the province of Hebei is tasked to handle location services.
The movie’s video effects will take place in the country, but with the supervision of an expert from Hollywood.
According to Qu Jianping, the general manager of Guoan New Bridge Media Investment Company, the film production base of Citic Guoan has turned its attention to the whole movie industry chain.
Qu further remarked that the film production base is now aimed at fostering talents, finance and production.
"Currently we have established collaboration with the Beijing Film Academy and the Communications University of China, ready to foster special effects talents and give them the opportunity to work with the Hollywood team," Qu enthused.
Over the coming year, Citic Guoan eyes to discover Chinese actors to star in the 3D fantasy epic. Fundraising activities will also take place.
“An’shu” is slated to be released in the 2018 Chinese New Year revelry.
FFS is known for co-financing a number of Sony PlayStation video game franchises and for operating film funds endeavor with Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation.
