Kentucky Wildcats guard Andrew Harrison has apologized for expressing an obscenity and racial slur towards Wisconsin Badgers forward Frank Kaminsky.
Harrison was overheard through an open microphone as he uttered "f**k that n****r" when asked about Kaminsky after the Wildcats lost against the Badgers at 71-64 final score on Saturday. This loss ruined the Wildcats undefeated season, The Guardian reported.
The social media lit up with questions on what Harrison said together with the video clips of him saying that remark. The team is planning to have discussion with Harrison with regard to the incident.
"We have no comment until we have had a chance to evaluate it," Kentucky spokesman Eric Lindsey said, according to ESPN.
Harrison extended his apology when he sent a message on hi Twitter that he wanted to apologize for his poor choice of words used to joke about a person whom he respect and know. He also added that he has a good conversation with Kaminsky and wished him all the luck on Monday's championship game.
The Wildcats guard's comment happened when a reporter at the press conference asked a question directed to Karl-Anthony Towns pertaining to him defending Kaminsky inside the hardcourt. Harrison had his mouth covered when he mimicked the comment. The live microphone picked up the remark and was heard by most that are present at the prescon.
When Kaminsky was asked about the incident, he simply replied that everything is fine now.
"He reached out to me, we talked about it, [I'm] over it," Kaminsky explained. "Nothing needs to be made out of it."
